Psychological Approaches

Codependency: a Christian Perspective
Codependency: A Christian Perspective
by Pat Springle

Great book on codependency, much better than Bondage to Bonding. Easy to read. Not specific to sexual betrayal, but is relevant to many who have experienced it. Quotes Search for Significance a few times. Very in line with our curriculum.

Boundaries in Marriage
Boundaries in Marriage
by Henry Cloud & John Townsend

Marital boundaries are very frequently problematic in couples where one struggles with sexual addiction. Excellent resource for betrayed women to find sanity in marriage. The workbook is "long and hard" so we recommend groups just read the book and do a "what did you learn/note" discussion each week.

Bondage to Bonding
Bondage to Bonding
by Nancy Groom

Escaping Codependency, Embracing Biblical Love. Excellent codependency resource. Biblical perspective, written by someone who has been there. In this book, the husband’s issue was alcohol not sex addiction, but same principles apply.

Bold Love
Bold Love
Not an easy read but some say worth it. Mostly related to boundaries and co-dependency issues. One group who used this book did struggle with it. Far from helping you "get along" with others, Bold Love introduces the outlandish possibility of making a significant and life-changing impact on family, friends, coworkers, even your enemies.

Probably the most thorough Christian book on the causes of and recovery from sexual addiction. This book was written by the leading Christian expert in sexual addiction. While it focuses mainly on the addict's issues, it also has an excellent chapter on restoration for couples. An excellent book to begin to understand a partner's struggle.

The best book we have ever read on sex. Tasteful, warm, not clinical, tips, humor, realistic. Christian, not Sex Addiction-focused but very helpful for couples affected by it.
